Edit DXF files by saying what to change.

Open a drawing in your browser, ask for a change in plain words, and check it in red before you apply it. Then run the same change on the next drawing.

Free during the beta. No account. Your file is never uploaded.

One drawing, or the whole folder

Fix one drawing

Ask the way you would ask a colleague: rename a layer, delete the duplicate lines, convert inches to millimetres, move the notes off the title block. The change shows in red. Apply it or discard it, and undo whenever you like.

Repeat it on the next one

Every change is a short script you can read. Open it in the script panel, open the next drawing and run it again. Same request, same result, every time.

Move a set to a new standard

Units, layer names, colours, duplicates: put the rules in one script and run it on each drawing of the set. Your standard stays written down instead of in someone’s head.

// our layer standard, run on every drawing we receive
ops.setUnits(doc, "mm");
ops.renameLayer(doc, "DIM", "DIMENSIONS");
ops.setProps(doc, { type: "CIRCLE", layer: "0" }, { layer: "HOLES" });
ops.dedupe(doc);

Your drawing stays yours

Never uploaded

The file opens and changes in your browser. The assistant gets a short description of the drawing (layers, counts, extents) and what its scripts print. Never the file itself. Your conversations with the assistant are saved to improve dxfedit; your drawings never are.

Only the change is written

Everything you did not touch stays exactly as it was, byte for byte. The file still opens the same in your CAD program and in your laser, plasma or CNC software.

Questions

Which files does it open?

DXF files from AutoCAD R12 to 2018, text or binary. DWG is not supported yet: save the drawing as DXF from your CAD program first.

Is it free?

Yes, while dxfedit is in beta. There is no account to create.

Which AI makes the changes?

Claude, by Anthropic. It writes a script for your request; the script runs in your browser and you see the result before anything is applied.

Can I use it without the assistant?

Yes. Layers, properties and measurements work on their own, and you can write scripts yourself in the script panel.
